Sri Badrika Ashram’s Scholarship & Mentorship gets a Big Fillip from the founder of Zscaler

Successful serial entrepreneur and one of the few Indians in the Forbes top 50 in the world, Jay Chaudhry has made a donation to the Sri Badrika Ashram Emerging Youth Scholarship and Mentorship Scheme. (SBAEYSS)

Jay, a hero to many of Himachal’s young, never let the lack of either electricity or drinking water in his village Panoh in Una district in Himachal Pradesh stop him from achieving great success. Never failing to credit the headmaster of his school for encouraging and taking a personal interest in him, Jay feels the program focused on meritorious underprivileged students of rural Himachal dovetails with his personal mission to make quality education easily available to deserving youth.

Jay said” My parents were very keen that I receive a good education and it was the help and guidance that I received from people like my rural school headmaster that got me to IIT BHU and then onwards to the US. I congratulate SBAEYSS on this initiative and am happy to be involved in helping kids from my home state and especially the girls and those from rural backgrounds to get access to quality education and increased prospects of a bright future. I am very bullish on India and Indians, and this is my small attempt to participate in their overall development”

Launched in 2021, the scheme’s current recipients are pursuing undergraduate education at reputed universities in Himachal Pradesh in courses like Law, Nursing, Engineering, ITI, Hospitality, Education and even Sanskrit.

In addition, awardees also avail of personalized mentorship from industry veterans, upskilling & holistic development, and market-focused assistance, helping them develop into confident and successful professionals.

In the first year, scholarships have been awarded to 108 students, 71% of whom are girls. Over 74% of the students studied in rural schools.   So far, MOUs have been signed with 23 universities/colleges, the latest on March 17th, 2022, with the NAAC accredited Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), which grants affiliations to 356 colleges across the state, allowing hundreds of indigent students to gain access to quality education and a better future.

In 2022-23, SBAEYSS will award more than 325 scholarships. To apply, visit https://www.sbahp.org/ for more details or email support@sbahp.org.
